Far-right influencer Jake Lang, who was previously pardoned by President Trump for his role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection, was arrested in Dallas, Texas, on a state charge of making terroristic threats. The 31-year-old was taken into custody Tuesday after arriving on a flight, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. He faces a third-degree felony charge related to alleged threats made outside the Collin County courthouse during the murder trial of Karmelo Anthony, a teen convicted of stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf to death in April 2025. Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Lang’s arrest stems from allegations that he threatened to shoot Anthony if he was not convicted. The family of the victim told CBS News that Lang made the threat, which was reportedly captured in photos and videos. In a video posted to his X account, a man claiming to be Lang stated he was arrested for saying, 'If the jury did not find Karmelo Anthony guilty, we the people will deal with justice.' He called the charge a case of 'lawfare' against a First Amendment protester. Lang also claimed his bail was set at $1 million, though CBS News could not confirm this or reach his legal representation.
This is Lang’s latest legal entanglement since his pardon. He was previously arrested in Frisco, Texas, on a trespassing charge and in St. Paul, Minnesota, for allegedly vandalizing a sculpture that read 'Prosecute ICE.' His trial in the Minnesota case is scheduled for next month. Lang was also indicted in 2021 on 11 federal charges related to the January 6 Capitol riot.
