Vice President JD Vance will appear on The View on June 16 to promote his new book, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, and discuss political headlines and the Trump administration’s priorities. This marks his first appearance on the show, making him the third sitting vice president to do so.
The View hosts, known for their frequent criticism of the Trump administration, will interview Vance alongside all six co-hosts: Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro. Vance’s book explores his religious journey to converting to Catholicism, with the vice president reflecting on his loss and regaining of faith.
The appearance comes as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) investigates whether The View violated the equal-time rule after Texas state Sen. James Talarico appeared on the program. The rule requires broadcasters to provide equivalent airtime to all legally qualified candidates running for the same public office.
In March, co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin criticized second lady Usha Vance, suggesting she was 'addicted to power' and had differing values from her husband. The hosts also referenced Vance’s past comments about his wife’s Hindu faith, stating he hoped she would 'come to see' the Christian gospel.
A study by the Media Research Center's NewsBusters found that in 2025, The View hosted 128 liberal guests but only two conservatives, highlighting the show’s political leanings.
