Lebanon reported Israeli airstrikes on its southern regions on Saturday (June 13, 2026), as the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for over 20 locations, including the city of Nabatieh. The state-run National News Agency (NNA) confirmed strikes in villages near Nabatieh, including Rihan and Sujud, where a local official was killed. Artillery shelling was also reported in Nabatieh and surrounding areas.
The Israeli army had previously declared areas south of the Zahrani River as combat zones and ordered residents to evacuate northward. Meanwhile, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for drone attacks on Israeli military vehicles in southern Lebanon, marking continued hostilities since the conflict began in March 2026.
The Lebanese army withdrew troops from a base in Kfar Tebnit after Israeli forces advanced nearby, reportedly aiming to capture the strategic Ali Taher hill. Hezbollah has been using fiber-optic drones to target Israeli troops, inflicting casualties. In late May, Israeli forces captured Beaufort Castle, their deepest incursion into Lebanon since 2000.
The conflict has resulted in over 3,700 deaths in Lebanon, with a recent airstrike killing 14 people, including 10 women and children, in a southern village last month.
