Lance Twiggs, the transgender romantic partner and roommate of Tyler Robinson—the man accused of assassinating conservative commentator Charlie Kirk—has been granted limited immunity by prosecutors. According to a June 16 court filing, Twiggs received 'use-immunity' for a recorded statement he provided to authorities on April 20, 2026. This immunity ensures his statements cannot be used against him in future legal proceedings.
Prosecutors plan to use Twiggs' recorded statement and his communications with Robinson during the July 6 preliminary hearing. The filing states that Twiggs gave the statement under oath, with warnings that false statements could be charged as obstruction of justice. Twiggs claimed Robinson had communicated with him and others via electronic messages, allegedly admitting to killing Kirk.
Robinson, 22, turned himself in to authorities on September 11, 2025, after his parents recognized him in news coverage following the shooting at Utah Valley University on September 10. Kirk, 31, was fatally shot while speaking at a Turning Point USA event. The FBI uncovered that Robinson sent multiple text messages to Twiggs during his 33-hour evasion period, disclosing his alleged involvement in the shooting.
Twiggs has not been charged or implicated in the shooting. He initially went into hiding after Robinson was identified as the alleged gunman but later cooperated with authorities. The limited immunity granted to Twiggs leaves prosecutors with flexibility in their case against Robinson.
