Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has publicly urged the U.S. government to reveal evidence of extraterrestrial life, following the Trump administration's latest release of classified UFO files. The Department of War published a third tranche of documents on Friday, including unexplained encounters and footage of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP).
Tyson, appearing on 'The Fox News Rundown,' argued that the public is prepared for such a disclosure and that withholding visual proof is unnecessary. 'Is it too much to ask at this point for them to just show the alien?' he said. 'I don’t think I’m asking too much here.' He suggested that the revelation might even be anticlimactic, given decades of alien-themed media conditioning.
The latest release includes a video of a 'plasma-like sphere' hovering above a pond, captured in 2025. Tyson speculated that any extraterrestrial life would likely differ significantly from humans, given Earth's biological diversity. 'I would be shocked if it was humanoid,' he stated.
The documents were part of the Trump administration's 'historic transparency effort,' with the official tracking page receiving over 1.7 billion hits worldwide. The files include contributions from agencies like the CIA, FBI, and NASA, detailing orb-like objects and other unexplained phenomena.
