Rock icon Rod Stewart paused his concert in Utah on Friday night after nearly fainting onstage, using an oxygen tank to recover. The incident occurred at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater in West Valley City, where the 81-year-old was performing as part of his One Last Time farewell tour.
Stewart, who appeared to lean on equipment for support, signaled to crew members who brought an oxygen tank. He later told the audience, "The show must go on," after admitting he "nearly fainted." Some concertgoers speculated the high elevation of the venue—4,300 feet above sea level—may have contributed to the incident.
This follows recent health-related cancellations, including a San Diego show due to laryngitis and two Las Vegas performances in May attributed to a sinus infection. Stewart’s representative cited "vocal rest" as the reason for those cancellations. Earlier this month, he also canceled a California show due to a respiratory infection that worsened into laryngitis.
Despite health concerns, Stewart attended a FIFA World Cup match in Boston the day after canceling the California show, sparking fan criticism on social media. His next scheduled performance is July 31 at the Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in New York. Representatives for Stewart did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
