Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in south-west London. Jamal Coombes was found with stab wounds on Glycena Road, Battersea, in the early hours of Saturday, May 18, and died at the scene despite medical intervention. A 15-year-old girl and boy were arrested on Saturday, and a 14-year-old boy was detained on Sunday. All three remain in custody as police investigate the incident.
Police believe the stabbing followed an altercation and are appealing for witnesses. Officers are particularly interested in anyone who was in the Lavender Hill area between 3:30 AM and 5:00 AM, specifically on Glycena Road, Acanthus Road, or Pountney Road. Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie urged the public to come forward with any information, including CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage, as even minor details could be crucial.
The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance responded to the scene but were unable to save Jamal. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. Police have increased their presence in the area to address community concerns and gather further evidence.
