Comedian Larry David criticized President Donald Trump’s UFC Freedom 250 fight at the White House, calling the event a "travesty" and expressing embarrassment over being an American. The remarks came during an interview with Variety at the premiere of his new HBO series, Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, which features celebrity guests including former President Barack Obama.
The UFC Freedom 250 event, held on the White House South Lawn, celebrated both the nation’s 250th anniversary and Trump’s 80th birthday. The fight drew roughly 4,300 spectators, including 1,200 active-duty service members, and featured performances by the Marine Band and a flyover by the Navy’s Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds. Trump described the event as "beyond anything that anybody's ever seen in sports."
David, known for his sharp political commentary, has previously criticized Trump, calling him a "sociopath" and a "sick man" in past interviews. His new series, set to debut on June 26, includes sketch comedy pieces satirizing pivotal moments in U.S. history. The show is produced by Higher Ground, Obama’s production company, with David praising the former president’s ad-libbing skills.
