President Donald Trump on Friday revealed a new limited-edition U.S. passport design to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence. The passport features a portrait of Trump standing over the Oval Office’s Resolute Desk, accompanied by the message, 'Welcome, but be good!' The design also includes Trump’s signature and a depiction of the Declaration of Independence.
The State Department confirmed plans to release a limited number of these specially designed passports starting in July. The documents will retain all existing security features of standard U.S. passports. The White House previously shared a mockup of the passport, which includes the phrase 'Patriot passport unlocked. Limited edition. Stamped for America 250.'
The new passports are part of broader commemorations for the nation’s 250th anniversary, which also includes other events such as a Grand Prix race on the National Mall and a UFC fight on the White House South Lawn. The State Department emphasized that the passports will be available to any American citizen who applies during the rollout period.
The unveiling comes as the U.S. has implemented stricter vetting policies for foreign visitors, requiring tourists and nonimmigrants to respect and follow U.S. laws and institutions. These policies coincide with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which ends in July and has brought hundreds of thousands of foreigners to the U.S.
