An investigation into illegal dumping in Palmdale led authorities to uncover a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory and seize over 800 pounds of the drug. Code enforcement officers responding to a report of illegal dumping discovered the narcotics operation near 110th Street East and Avenue M-8 in the unincorporated area of Lake Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and LAPD dismantled the lab, seizing both crystal and liquid methamphetamine. One suspect, 22-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Gutierrez of Mexico, was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance. The investigation remains ongoing, with additional search warrants executed by authorities.
Mayor Eric Ohlsen praised the code enforcement team's work, stating the bust removed a 'massive amount of dangerous drugs' from the community. Authorities are urging residents to report illegal dumping or suspicious activity to Palmdale Code Enforcement. The case highlights the intersection of environmental and drug enforcement efforts in the region.
