Toddler dies after being left in SUV; daycare owner urges safety checks

A 23-month-old boy was found dead inside an SUV outside A World of Discovery Academy in Plantation, Florida, on Monday afternoon. The child's father mistakenly believed he had dropped him off at the daycare before realizing the toddler was still in the back seat. Police and firefighters responded to the scene at approximately 5:39 p.m. and pronounced the child dead. The daycare owner, Leslie Novoa, called 911 alongside the father after discovering the toddler in the vehicle. Novoa described the family as loving parents who had enrolled their three children at the school for years. Investigators spent several hours collecting evidence, and the daycare later released a statement expressing condolences and pledging support for the family. As of Tuesday, Plantation police had not announced whether anyone would face charges. Novoa urged parents to always check the back seat before leaving their vehicles.
