A Ukrainian woman suspected of carrying out a bomb attack in Monaco that injured a Ukrainian oligarch and his family has been found dead near Kyiv. Anastasiia Berezovska, 39, was discovered with gunshot wounds to the head, according to Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU). Two individuals, including an officer from Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Berezovska was wanted by Monaco authorities for the June 29 bombing that targeted Vadym Yermolaiev, a Ukrainian-born businessman with ties to Russia, and his family. The attack injured three people, including a child. Monaco’s Prince Albert II condemned the incident as an "odious act."
Interpol had issued a Red Notice for Berezovska, identifying her as the primary suspect in the bombing. She was accused of attempted murder, planting an explosive device, and criminal conspiracy. Authorities said Berezovska arrived in Ukraine two days after the attack and communicated with two men—a former law enforcement officer and a current intelligence officer—who are now under investigation for possible involvement in the Monaco bombing.
The SBU stated that the intelligence officer confessed to killing Berezovska with the help of the former law enforcement officer, claiming he acted without official authorization. Investigators found a basement resembling a torture chamber at the former officer’s home. Both suspects were detained on charges of premeditated murder.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining financial transactions between Berezovska and the two suspects, including repeated transfers to her cryptocurrency and bank accounts.
