The 2026 Emmy nominations were announced Wednesday, with HBO Max's medical drama The Pitt leading all nominees with 25 total nods, including a record-breaking 13 acting nominations. The show's second season earned recognition across multiple categories, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor for Noah Wyle, and Outstanding Supporting Actress for Katherine LaNasa, Sepideh Moafi, Taylor Dearden, and Fiona Dourif. Three additional cast members—Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy, and Gerran Howell—were nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
The Pitt nearly doubled its nominations from last year, when it won three Emmys, including Best Drama Series. The show's ensemble cast, which includes doctors, nurses, and patients, has been praised for its realistic portrayal of an emergency department. The series also earned nominations for writing and directing.
HBO Max's Hacks followed closely with 24 nominations, setting a new record for the most nominations in a single year for a comedy series. The show's final season earned nods for Jean Smart (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series) and Hannah Einbinder (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series). Apple TV+'s Widow's Bay also made a strong showing with 19 nominations, including Best Comedy Series and acting nods for Matthew Rhys and Stephen Root.
Other notable nominees include The Diplomat (Netflix), Pluribus (Apple TV+), and Beef (Netflix). The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and broadcast live on September 14.
