San Francisco Giants pitcher Logan Webb deleted his X account after a heated exchange with a reporter following a 10-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday. The incident unfolded after KNBR digital content producer Jack Loder posted a video criticizing Webb's performance and leadership, prompting a public back-and-forth between the two.
Webb, who surrendered five first-inning runs—including his first career grand slam—settled down to pitch six scoreless innings but could not prevent the Giants' 21st loss in their last 30 games. The team now sits 21.5 games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers.
Loder's video questioned Webb's consistency as the team's ace, stating, 'When someone is supposed to be your ace, you think they are going to give you the best chance to win every week.' Webb responded by criticizing Loder's access to the locker room, writing, 'You know what's sad is they allow people like you in the locker room.' Loder later shared Webb's reply, adding, 'If you’re wondering where the Giants are at mentally after a 10-0 loss to [the Blue Jays].'
Webb also engaged with other critics on X, calling one user a 'loser on the couch' and questioning whether another was paid by KNBR. The exchange escalated before Webb deleted his account.
The Giants' struggles extend beyond Webb's performance. Dylan Cease of the Blue Jays took a no-hitter into the ninth inning, with Heliot Ramos recording the Giants' lone hit. First-year manager Tony Vitello faces mounting pressure as the team continues its disappointing season.
