Wai Ching Ho, the Hong Kong-born actress best known for her role as Madame Gao in Marvel's "Daredevil" and "Iron Fist," has died at the age of 82. Her family confirmed her death in a statement, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support. The cause of death was a stroke, according to actor Perry Yung's Instagram tribute. Ho's representative also confirmed her passing, noting that she died peacefully.
Ho's career spanned decades, with notable roles in "One Life to Live," "Law & Order: SVU," "Orange is the New Black," and "Only Murders in the Building." She also voiced Grandma Wu in Pixar's 2022 film "Turning Red."
Co-stars and colleagues paid tribute to Ho on social media. Peter Shinkoda, who worked with her on "Daredevil," wrote on Instagram, "I won't ever forget you. I learned every minute from you when we were together on and off set." Perry Yung, who played her husband in "High Resolution," described her as "a kind, compassionate human being whose work as an artist lifted every production to a higher standard."
Actress Mahira Kakkar also shared her memories, calling Ho "warm, funny, caring, joyful, positive and a truly wonderful actor."
Ho's family requested privacy during this difficult time, emphasizing how much her presence meant to many.
