Two men were shot inside a Kroger grocery store in the Houston area on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. The incident, which occurred around 2:50 p.m. local time at the store located at 20355 Cypresswood Drive, is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute between the two men involved.
One of the victims was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition, while the suspected shooter sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported by ambulance. Both individuals were listed in critical condition Wednesday evening. No other bystanders were harmed during the incident, according to officials.
Deputies with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 responded to reports of an active shooter and arrived at the scene in less than two minutes, taking the suspect into custody. Investigators are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with Family Violence investigators leading the inquiry. The store remains closed as the investigation continues.
Kroger released a statement expressing sadness over the incident and confirming the store's closure during the police investigation.
