Mark Lamb, a former Arizona sheriff and Trump-backed candidate for Congress, is facing allegations of a yearslong sex scandal and misuse of his law enforcement position. The claims, detailed in an Arizona Republic investigation, allege Lamb and his wife engaged in sexually explicit conversations with multiple women. Some women reported threats from Lamb, including potential investigations, when they attempted to report the allegations.
Lamb is running for the Arizona seat left open by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and is favored in the Republican primary against self-funding businessman Daniel Keenan. The Arizona Republic reviewed communications dating back to 2016, including messages from three women who allege affairs with Lamb, as well as a former campaign staffer. Jillian Stannard and Yvonne Belloc provided interviews, while Tammy Peacock, who died in 2021, compiled a detailed account of her messages with Lamb. Screenshots show Lamb allegedly exchanged nude photos and explicit messages with Peacock, who later got a tattoo with his name. Lamb disputes the affair claims, describing Peacock as a crazed supporter in his 2020 memoir.
Keenan, Lamb's primary opponent, has seized on the allegations, framing them as evidence of Lamb's moral failings. Lamb's spokesperson Ed Morabito called the allegations false and politically motivated. Stannard, one of the accusers, confirmed the accuracy of the Republic's reporting. The race tests whether GOP voters prioritize Trump's endorsement over the scandal.
