Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has been formally charged with a misdemeanor hit-and-run and an infraction for an unlawful turn following a July 3 collision in Yountville, California. The Napa County District Attorney’s Office announced the charges on July 17, alleging Pelosi struck an unoccupied parked Tesla before leaving the scene without providing information to the vehicle’s owner.
Deputies located Pelosi approximately a half-mile from the crash site, where his car sustained significant damage consistent with the collision. He reportedly told officers he intended to return to the scene. No injuries were reported, and Pelosi did not test positive for alcohol. The incident marks the second time in four years Pelosi has faced charges related to an auto accident in Napa County; he previously pleaded guilty to drunk driving in 2022.
Pelosi’s first court appearance is scheduled for August 14. A spokesperson for the Pelosi family stated that he had personally apologized to the vehicle owner and committed to covering the damages. The maximum penalty for the hit-and-run charge includes up to one year of probation.
