Controversial social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Saturday, July 18, by U.S. Marshals on a sealed warrant. British authorities are seeking their extradition to face 38 new charges, including rape, sex trafficking, and child pornography offenses. The alleged crimes occurred between July 2010 and August 2017, involving seven victims in total.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced the additional charges, which include seven counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, and 19 charges related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography against Andrew Tate. Tristan Tate faces one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
The brothers, who are dual British-U.S. citizens, have denied all allegations. Their attorney, Joseph McBride, called the charges "filth and slander," alleging political motives behind the prosecution. The Tates were previously arrested in Romania in 2022 on similar charges but were released due to legal and procedural issues.
The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed the arrests but declined to disclose the charges due to the sealed warrant. The brothers are expected to be processed at the federal courthouse in Miami, where the indictment will be unsealed. The extradition process will now proceed, with British prosecutors seeking to bring the Tates to trial in the UK.
