Podcaster Joe Rogan revealed on his show that a former guest, Sheldon Johnson, was arrested and charged in connection with a gruesome murder just weeks after appearing on "The Joe Rogan Experience." Johnson, an ex-convict who portrayed himself as a reformed criminal justice advocate, was arrested in March 2024 and charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, criminal possession of a weapon, and concealment of a human corpse. The charges stem from the alleged shooting and dismemberment of 44-year-old Colin Small in his Bronx apartment. Police discovered Small's headless torso and other dismembered body parts in multiple locations, including Johnson's Harlem apartment.
Rogan discussed the case during a recent episode of his podcast, recalling Johnson's appearance in February 2024. He described how Johnson allegedly killed Small shortly after the interview, dismembered the body, and attempted to escape by disguising himself with a wig. Johnson pleaded not guilty to all charges. Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark described the crime as "as cruel as it was gruesome," noting that Johnson allegedly shot Small in the head and took drastic measures to hide the evidence.
Johnson, who was released from prison in 2019 after serving time for armed robberies, had appeared on the podcast with civil rights attorney Josh Dubin, who advocates for wrongly convicted individuals. Rogan also criticized the "mainstream media" for radicalizing individuals, though this claim was not directly tied to the murder case.
