Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS Sports analyst Tony Romo was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Romo, 46, was stopped while driving south on I-43 and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He was booked and released, with a court appearance scheduled for Sept. 21.
This is Romo’s first OWI arrest. In Wisconsin, a first-time offense is considered a civil violation, potentially resulting in fines and driver’s license revocation. Romo, a Burlington, Wisconsin native, played 13 seasons with the Cowboys, earning four Pro Bowl selections and setting franchise records for passing yards (34,183) and touchdowns (248). Since 2017, he has worked as a lead game analyst for CBS Sports.
CBS Sports declined to comment on the arrest. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the matter remains under investigation.
