Robert Bush, 48, has been sentenced for 67 offences related to the mishandling of 30 bodies and defrauding grieving families at his Legacy Independent Funeral Directors in Hull. The court heard that Bush stockpiled bodies, falsely claimed to have cremated them, and provided families with the ashes of strangers. Among the victims, Tina Thames described how her adoptive father, Jim Porter, was found with hospital identification bands still on his wrists and ankle, months after his funeral. Jasmine Beverley revealed that her stillborn baby’s remains were left in a brown paper bag for nearly two years. The court also heard from Angela Scottow, whose family received the wrong ashes of her brother, which were later turned into jewellery. Bush’s actions spanned over a decade, leaving families devastated and raising questions about oversight in the funeral industry.
