Social Security beneficiaries will receive their August payments on a staggered schedule, with the first disbursements scheduled for August 3 and the final payments issued by August 26, according to the Social Security Administration (SSA). The SSA also confirmed that Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients already received their August payment on July 31 due to the August 1 weekend, meaning no separate SSI payment will be sent this month.
The SSA’s payment schedule for August is as follows:
- August 3: Beneficiaries who began receiving Social Security before May 1997 or who also receive SSI.
- August 12: Beneficiaries with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- August 19: Beneficiaries with birthdays between the 11th and 20th.
- August 26: Beneficiaries with birthdays between the 21st and 31st.
The next SSI payment is scheduled for September 1, as the early July 31 disbursement covered August. The SSA continues to encourage beneficiaries to use direct deposit or electronic payment methods, noting that fewer than 1% of recipients still receive paper checks.
Beneficiaries who do not receive an expected payment are advised to first contact their bank. If the issue persists, they should reach out to the SSA or their local SSA office for assistance.
The SSA has also outlined the payment schedule for 2026, with SSI payments set to resume on the first of each month unless the date falls on a weekend or holiday, in which case payments are issued the preceding business day.
