In a recent interview, Baldwin, 60, reflected on his life after his role in the 1995 film The Usual Suspects, which he described as a turning point. He stated he could have pursued a path toward becoming a major Hollywood star but instead prioritized his personal and spiritual values. Baldwin emphasized his preference for a simpler life rooted in his Long Island upbringing, saying, “I'd rather be a schmuck from Massapequa!”
Baldwin’s spiritual journey began in 2001 when he and his wife, Kennya Baldwin, hired a Brazilian housekeeper named Augusta. According to Baldwin, Augusta claimed she had been sent by God after having a prophetic vision that the couple would one day become born-again Christians and start a ministry. Baldwin initially expressed skepticism but later described attending evangelical events with his sister, which included a Christian skateboarding ministry that blended worship with extreme sports. He noted that these experiences contributed to his spiritual awakening.
Baldwin also highlighted personal milestones, including getting sober in 1989 and marrying Kennya in 1990. The couple has two daughters, Alaia Baldwin and Hailey Bieber, the latter of whom is married to pop star Justin Bieber. Baldwin’s faith has remained a central focus in his life since his conversion.
