Truth Social’s new Truth API service officially launched on August 1, providing paying customers with machine-readable, low-latency feeds of posts from the platform’s most influential accounts, including President Donald Trump’s account.
The service delivers posts to subscribers faster than standard access, with updates arriving in milliseconds via a direct data feed. According to Trump Media & Technology Group, the API covers posts from the platform’s 10 highest-ranking accounts, though the full list has not been publicly disclosed. Subscribers receive posts in a format optimized for automated trading systems, eliminating delays associated with webpage loading or third-party notifications.
Trump Media has not disclosed pricing publicly, but Reuters reported that the company discussed fees of up to $100,000 per month, or $60,000 per month under a three-year contract. The service includes an archive of posts dating back to 2022, allowing subscribers to analyze historical data alongside real-time updates.
How the Service Works
Truth API functions as an application programming interface (API), enabling direct integration between Truth Social’s data stream and subscribers’ automated systems. While posts appear simultaneously on the public platform, API customers receive notifications a fraction of a second earlier than users relying on push notifications or manual refreshes.
The feed is designed for organizations requiring real-time data, particularly financial institutions and trading firms. The machine-readable format allows for immediate classification and execution of trades based on post content, which has historically influenced market movements.
Market Impact and Historical Context
Trump’s Truth Social posts have previously triggered market volatility, particularly regarding announcements on tariffs, foreign policy, and trade. In a July announcement, Trump Media interim CEO Kevin McGurn stated, “Markets already move on Truth Social posts.” However, Morgan Stanley analysts noted last month that such market reactions have become less frequent in recent periods.
The API’s introduction raises questions about fair access to information, as paying subscribers gain a speed advantage over the general public. While the posts themselves remain publicly visible, the timing and format of delivery create a commercial distinction between users.
Who Holds the Most Influence on Truth Social?
Beyond Trump’s account, which has approximately 13 million followers, Truth Social’s most influential accounts include family members, senior administration figures, and conservative media personalities. Public follower counts suggest these accounts play a significant role in shaping discourse on the platform, though their exact inclusion in the API feed has not been confirmed.
Trump Media has not responded to requests for comment on the service’s scope or the selection criteria for included accounts.
