President Donald Trump publicly endorsed Scotts Miracle-Gro on Monday, praising the company’s work on the White House lawn after it restored the South Lawn at no cost following a June event.
Two key developments emerged from the Oval Office remarks: Trump confirmed that Scotts Miracle-Gro would provide grass for 700 acres of Washington, D.C., parks, and he attributed the White House lawn restoration to the company’s $1 million donation to the National Park Service. The donation followed the UFC 250 event held on Trump’s 80th birthday.
Trump stated he accepted the company’s offer after a “friend” contacted him, saying he inquired about the cost and was told it was “free.” “They do great grass. What can I tell you? I gotta give them a plug because they did the White House for free,” Trump told reporters.
Scotts Miracle-Gro, a publicly traded company based in Ohio, specializes in lawn and garden products. The company’s contributions included both financial support and expertise for the South Lawn restoration. In 2024, Scotts Miracle-Gro also donated $500,000 to a pro-Trump political action committee (PAC).
The White House did not respond to requests for comment regarding the endorsement or the company’s donations. Scotts Miracle-Gro similarly did not provide additional statements beyond its prior announcements.
This marks the latest instance of Trump publicly endorsing businesses that have provided services or support to his administration. In previous examples, he has promoted companies such as Tesla and Dell after receiving their assistance or public backing.
