Angel Reese, a standout player for the Atlanta Dream, celebrated the debut of her custom Barbie doll and sneakers during a themed game against the Las Vegas Aces on Monday. The event marked a milestone in Reese’s career, coinciding with the release of a Mattel Barbie modeled after her likeness and a Reebok sneaker collaboration.
Reese shared a message on social media expressing gratitude for the event, despite her team’s 109-87 loss to the defending champion Aces. She posted: "Even though we didn’t get the win, thank you to everyone who came out yesterday. Seeing an entire arena PINK for my very own Barbie was truly a dream come true. Since I’ve been in ATL, y’all have shown me nothing but love, and I’m so thankful for it. Keep showing up & supporting this team. #GoDream." Reese recorded a double-double with 23 points and 16 rebounds in the game.
The custom Barbie doll, dressed in a pink "Angel" jersey, shorts, socks, and headband while holding a pink basketball, sold out shortly after its release. Reese reflected on its significance, stating: "Honestly, I didn't have a lot of dolls [growing up], because I didn't have dolls that looked like me much. That's why I wanted to make sure this was super intentional, because now they have dolls that look like you ... but also you can be a killer on the court as well."
Reebok also launched the "Angel Reese 1: Barbie" sneaker, available in multiple colorways. The Atlanta Dream remain in playoff contention, with eight teams currently eligible for postseason play if the season ended today.
The Barbie Night event underscored Reese’s growing influence both on and off the court, as she continues to expand her brand partnerships and fan engagement initiatives.
