A murder investigation has been launched after Tony Jones, 56, died from injuries sustained during a mass brawl in Pontnewynydd, near Pontypool, Wales, on Thursday evening.
Seven men, aged between 31 and 73, have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody. Gwent Police confirmed the arrests following the death of Mr. Jones, who was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the altercation.
The force has urged motorists and witnesses with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area between 6pm and 9pm on Thursday to come forward. Officers are seeking to establish the movements of those involved before and after the disorder.
Detective Superintendent Laura Bartley of Gwent Police stated: 'We recognise that reports of this nature will cause concern in our community, but we have officers working around the clock conducting inquiries as part of the investigation.'
The appeal covers roads including Hospital Road and Mill Road, where the incident occurred. Police have not disclosed further details about the nature of the altercation or the identities of the arrested individuals.
Mr. Jones, a resident of Brecon, was pronounced dead following the incident. His family has been supported by specialist officers throughout the investigation.
