A North Carolina woman who vanished during a girls' trip to Grenada on July 22 was last seen in the water by a group of jet skiers who attempted to persuade her to leave the ocean, her husband said in an online update.
Surveillance footage from a nearby Airbnb property captured a person appearing to be Elizabeth "Liz" Waddell, 43, walking near a pool and holding a towel shortly before she entered the water. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on the day she was reported missing to the Royal Grenada Police Force.
In a post on FindLiz.com, her husband, Cailen Waddell, described how jet skiers spent several minutes trying to convince Waddell to ride back to shore on a jet ski rather than remain in the ocean. According to his account, she responded by saying, 'I'm a good swimmer,' and gave them a thumbs up before the group left the area.
Waddell traveled to Grenada two days after her disappearance to join search efforts but returned to the U.S. a week later following an unsuccessful search. He has continued to provide updates through the family-created website, where he expressed grief over her absence and acknowledged the likelihood she is no longer alive.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of her disappearance, and the investigation remains ongoing. The Royal Grenada Police Force has not publicly commented on the jet skiers' account or the surveillance footage.
