The jackpot, now the eighth largest in Powerball history, would pay out $450.5 million as a lump-sum before taxes or an annuity over 29 years. The last time someone won the Powerball jackpot was May 2, and unclaimed prizes roll over to increase future jackpots. Once a winner is verified, the jackpot resets to a default $20 million for the next drawing.
The Double Play feature, which offers a secondary drawing with a top prize of $10 million, was also held Wednesday. The winning numbers for the Double Play were 3, 4, 19, 21, 58, with a Powerball of 8 and a Power Play multiplier of 2X.
Powerball drawings occur at 10:59 p.m. Eastern on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, with ticket purchases closing at 9:45 p.m. The game is available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. A recent expansion also allows participation from the United Kingdom, which began on July 21.
Players have a 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning the jackpot with a $2 ticket. The next drawing is scheduled for Saturday, with the jackpot resetting to $20 million unless a new winner emerges.
