The next Powerball drawing will take place at 10:59 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 15, with a reset jackpot of $20 million (cash value: $8.7 million). Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and streamed live on the Powerball website.
Where the winning ticket was sold
The Illinois Lottery confirmed the jackpot-winning ticket was purchased at a retail location in Quincy, Illinois, though the winner’s identity remains anonymous under state law. Illinois allows winners of prizes over $250,000 to remain anonymous, though they may choose to claim the prize publicly.
Other winners from Wednesday’s drawing
In addition to the jackpot winner, five other tickets matched all five white balls:
- One ticket in Massachusetts matched all five white balls and the Power Play, winning $2 million.
- Four tickets in Arizona, California, Florida, and North Carolina matched all five white balls, each winning $1 million.
A separate Powerball ticket sold in Sacramento, California, matched all five white balls but did not win the jackpot, earning $820,520 under California’s pari-mutuel prize structure.
How to claim a prize
Winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize. The Illinois Lottery has not yet confirmed whether the jackpot winner has come forward. Prizes can be verified and claimed through the Powerball website or state lottery websites, such as the Ohio Lottery.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play, with an optional Power Play add-on for $1 extra, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 10x.
