The Seattle Seahawks have finalized a deal to sign former Detroit Lions first-round cornerback Terrion Arnold, according to multiple reports. The move comes as the NFL reviews Arnold’s eligibility amid eight pending felony charges in Florida.
Arnold, who was released by the Lions in June after his arrest, visited the Seahawks alongside the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, and New York Giants this week. Seattle’s general manager John Schneider and head coach Mike Macdonald both indicated a positive impression during Arnold’s visit.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested Arnold in Tampa, Florida, on charges related to a February robbery and kidnapping involving three men. Prosecutors allege Arnold orchestrated the incident after accusing the men of stealing $100,000 in cash and luxury goods from him. His bail was set at $1 million, and his attorney has not publicly commented on the charges since Arnold’s release on bond.
Arnold, selected No. 24 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, played one season for Detroit, recording 60 tackles, 10 passes defensed, and one fumble recovery. A shoulder injury required season-ending surgery in 2025, cutting short his rookie campaign. The Lions waived him in June after his arrest.
Seattle’s secondary now includes Devon Witherspoon, Josh Jobe, Nick Emmanwori, and Ty Okada, with Arnold slated to compete for a roster spot pending the NFL’s review. The league has not yet determined whether to place Arnold on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, which would bar him from team activities while legal proceedings continue.
Arnold’s legal team has not responded to requests for comment on the status of the charges or his potential NFL eligibility. The Seahawks have not issued a formal statement regarding the signing beyond confirming Arnold’s visit and the team’s interest in his on-field performance.
