A Louisiana man was arrested in Tennessee on Thursday after authorities say he drove with his wife’s body in the passenger seat of his vehicle for several hours following her death. Tyronne Brazille, 50, was pulled over in Memphis for a traffic violation, at which point officers discovered the lifeless body of his wife, Lanessa Bradford, 50, in the passenger seat with a gunshot wound, according to authorities.
Police confirmed that Brazille was taken into custody as a fugitive and is facing charges related to the death of Bradford. Investigators allege the shooting occurred during an argument at Independence Community Park in Baton Rouge on the same day.
Friend’s account details wife’s plans to leave
A longtime friend of Bradford, Shelicka Decker, told reporters that the couple had been married for years and that Bradford had been planning to leave Brazille. Decker stated that Bradford had saved money, developed an exit strategy, and was in contact with out-of-town family to facilitate her departure.
"She had the money saved up. She had come up with a plan, and she was going to just vanish. That was the only way she would be able to get away from him," Decker said. "She was going to leave her car, she was going to leave all the things behind, and she had been in touch with her family that was out of town, and that's how she was going to make this move to get away."
Decker also recounted that Bradford had told her Brazille had threatened to kill himself or her if she attempted to leave, though Decker stated she never believed he would act on those threats.
Investigators allege premeditated killing
Authorities allege that Brazille shot and killed Bradford before driving through multiple states with her body in the vehicle. The exact route and duration of the trip have not been disclosed. Police did not provide further details on the circumstances leading to the shooting or the timeline of events prior to the traffic stop in Memphis.
The case remains under investigation, and no additional charges or suspects have been named. Authorities have not released a motive beyond the ongoing inquiry. The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office has not yet released an official cause of death pending further review.
