An Oklahoma man has been arrested three times in 12 days and charged with first-degree rape following allegations of sexual assaults on multiple women. Jeff Kufi Asare, 26, was booked on Aug. 12 on a $75,000 cash-or-bail bond after Oklahoma City police responded to a report of a woman being restrained on the Lake Hefner Trail.
The arrest follows two prior detentions in early August. On Aug. 1, Asare was arrested on probable-cause allegations of felony sexual battery and felony indecent exposure after police responded to a possible rape call. Five days later, he was detained again following reports of sexual assaults involving multiple women at a downtown park, where he was booked on probable-cause allegations of attempted kidnapping and felony sexual battery, along with two city assault-and-battery citations.
Court and jail records show that prosecutors requested an increase in Asare’s bond from $50,000 to $75,000 after his third arrest. The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office stated that state charges have not yet been filed because the investigation remains ongoing, and cases have not been presented to prosecutors.
Background and Prior Record
Asare has seven prior convictions, according to jail records. The incidents leading to his recent arrests involve allegations of forcible sexual acts, including attempted forcible rape and forcible fondling, as detailed in an incident report obtained by law enforcement. The Aug. 12 incident report has not yet been released by Oklahoma City police, who cited it as incomplete.
Legal Status and Prosecutorial Timeline
The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that it expects to file state charges once police complete their investigation and submit the cases. As of the latest update, no formal charges beyond probable-cause allegations have been filed in the three cases involving Asare.
Community and Law Enforcement Response
Oklahoma City police have not provided additional details about the incidents, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. Firefighters who reported the Aug. 12 incident to police played a role in Asare’s arrest, according to local affiliate KOCO. The case remains under active review by law enforcement and prosecutors.
