Kaia Gerber, the 24-year-old model and actor, confirmed in a recent interview that she underwent an exorcism as a child after her parents believed she was "possessed." Gerber made the revelation during an appearance on The Mitch Churi Chat Show to promote her new FX series, The Shards.
Gerber stated she was "haunted" throughout her childhood and described a lifelong connection to the supernatural. She also shared that her mother, supermodel Cindy Crawford, sent her to set with holy water while filming American Horror Story, expressing concern about potential possession. "I was told I was possessed as a child," Gerber said.
The exorcism, as described by Gerber, involved the use of a didgeridoo, a traditional wind instrument created by Indigenous Australians. "They played a didgeridoo all over me. That’s how they did the exorcism," she explained. Gerber emphasized that the event "actually did happen," noting it was her first time publicly discussing the experience.
During the interview, Gerber reflected on her recurring roles in horror-themed projects, including American Horror Story and The Shards, suggesting a personal resonance with the genre. "I do feel as though I attract beings from the other dimension, in a very casual and chill way," she said. Her co-star in The Shards, Homer Gere, was present during the discussion.
Gerber has also appeared in other projects such as the 2023 comedy Bottoms and the 2024 SNL dramatization Saturday Night. Her mother, Cindy Crawford, was previously married to actor Richard Gere from 1991 to 1995, making Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere step-siblings.
