The body of Alisa Goods, 63, a New York grandmother who went missing during a trip to Las Vegas, has been found near Harry Reid International Airport, according to relatives. The discovery was confirmed in a statement from her family on August 16, following her disappearance on August 8.
Family receives suspicious messages from Goods' phone after her disappearance
Two days after Goods was reported missing, relatives said someone began sending messages from her phone requesting financial assistance, including requests for Bitcoin and gas money. Goods' niece, Alana Calloway, stated that the request for gas money was immediately suspicious, as her aunt does not drive. Calloway told reporters that the family considered the possibility of kidnapping at that time.
Goods, a Brooklyn resident and grandmother of five, had been visiting a friend in Las Vegas when she disappeared after leaving for a nearby pharmacy. She was reported missing on August 10, two days after her last confirmed sighting. The Clark County Coroner’s Office has not yet released details regarding the cause of death, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has not provided additional information.
Family expresses grief and calls for answers
In a statement shared on an online fundraiser, Goods' daughter, Kristen Goods, described the news as "devastating." "For our family, this is a devastating loss," she wrote. "After the uncertainty and anguish of not knowing where she was, we are now faced with the painful reality of saying goodbye and making arrangements to honor her life and memory."
Calloway echoed the family’s grief, telling reporters, "Our hearts are broken. We were notified that my aunt was found — unfortunately, not the way we wanted her to be. This is an unimaginable time."
Airport confirms discovery; investigation ongoing
A spokesperson for Harry Reid International Airport confirmed that a body had been found near the facility but declined to provide further details, directing inquiries to law enforcement. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County Coroner’s Office have not yet released additional information regarding the circumstances of Goods' death or the ongoing investigation. Multiple requests for comment from these agencies were not immediately returned.
Goods’ family has stated they are traveling to Las Vegas to address the situation and seek answers. The case remains under investigation, with authorities yet to determine the cause of death or any potential criminal involvement.
