Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen publicly rejected an unsolicited offer from a plastic surgeon to alter her nose, calling the message inappropriate and affirming her satisfaction with her appearance.
Frederiksen shared screenshots of the Instagram message she received from a male plastic surgeon, who wrote: “Hi Mette, just saw you on TV and I would love to fix that little spot on your nose.” She responded: “Oh no. I'm happy with my body — I really don't need a male plastic surgeon to have an opinion about it.”
The prime minister, who has served since 2019 and is one of Europe’s longest-serving leaders, posted the exchange on Instagram after returning from a trip to Ukraine, where she was exposed to air raid sirens during the ongoing war. In her caption, she described receiving unsolicited beauty advice for years, including comments about her teeth, hair, and nose, as well as suggestions to get Botox.
Frederiksen wrote: “I can’t tell you how many messages I’ve received over the years about my appearance. Especially that I have ugly teeth and thin hair. That I have an ugly ‘wart’ on my nose and well-meaning advice to get some Botox.” She added: “I don’t interfere in what others do with their appearance. I’m perfectly fine with my body — as it is when you’re a woman approaching 50.”
Her response concluded: “If you’re going to write to me (and you’re more than welcome to), I hope you’ll use your time to talk about something more meaningful. Not my nose.”

Frederiksen’s brother, Per Frederiksen, previously told The Telegraph that her nose was injured in her youth during an altercation. At age 13, she intervened to defend a group of Arab refugees from a racist group known as Greenjackets in Copenhagen. Her brother stated: “When she went in between them, they broke her nose, so you can say she’s never been afraid to stick her nose out. She’s always been a fighter.”
