Dolly Parton’s planned Broadway musical, museum, and Nashville hotel will open as scheduled following her death on Tuesday at age 80, her representatives confirmed.
The SongTeller Hotel, a 245-room Nashville property designed around Parton’s music and storytelling, is set to open September 14 with nightly rates starting at $386. The hotel includes two live-music venues: Parton’s Live and Jolene’s.
The Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum, housed on the hotel’s third floor, will open September 29 as the world’s largest exhibit dedicated to her life. Museum tickets are available separately from hotel bookings.
Parton’s Broadway musical, Dolly: A True Original, will begin previews at New York’s St. James Theatre on December 7, with an official opening on January 19—what would have been her 81st birthday. The production features her hits, including Jolene and 9 to 5, alongside new songs written for the show.
Producers confirmed the musical will proceed as planned, stating it was Parton’s wish. The show’s creative team includes Tony-winning director Bartlett Sher and choreographer Mandy Moore.
Legacy Projects in Progress
Parton’s broader slate of ventures includes the Tennessean Travel Stop in Cornersville, which opened in June, and a coffee brand, Cup of Ambition, launched in partnership with Community Coffee. Additional travel stop locations are planned nationwide, though no further details have been released.
The Broadway musical is described as a rags-to-riches narrative, tracing Parton’s life from her childhood in the Smoky Mountains to her Hollywood career. The production was developed with Parton’s direct involvement, including writing the music, book, and serving as producer.
