Kai Trump, granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, documented her first week at the University of Miami in a YouTube vlog, capturing emotional farewells to family and friends before moving to Miami for her freshman year. She also stated she had not eaten for several days during her initial transition period.
In the vlog, Kai described struggling with leaving her home in Jupiter, Florida, and shared footage of herself crying while driving home from a golf round the day before her move. She also documented her first week of classes, team meetings, and athletic practices, as well as an unexpected illness during the first week.
Kai Trump, a member of the University of Miami women’s golf team, began her freshman year late last month. In the vlog posted this week, she shared her emotional final days at home and her initial experiences at school. She was seen breaking down in tears while saying goodbye to family and friends, describing the experience as "really sad."
"I’m not a very emotional person at all, so this is like really weird for me to cry," Kai said in the video. "I’ve only cried a few times. I think knowing that I have to say goodbye to everyone tonight really, really sucks."
She added, "I’m just struggling right now just like thinking about it, but like I’m excited."
Kai’s vlog also included footage of her final time with friends before moving to Miami, as well as her first night in her new apartment. She noted that she did not film much of her first day of college due to the emotional toll of saying goodbye.
During her first week, Kai balanced early-morning team meetings, classes, and golf practice. Her schedule included a 7 a.m. team meeting on her first Monday. She also showed her team gear haul, including Miami-branded apparel and golf equipment.
Kai’s first week was interrupted when she fell ill shortly after classes began. In the video, she mentioned experiencing symptoms consistent with strep throat, though the exact diagnosis was not specified in the available footage.
A close friend, Emma, assisted Kai during her move and brought groceries to ensure she was eating. "Emma got me some frozen foods because I haven't eaten in like three days," Kai said in the video.
Kai has previously shared updates about her mother, Vanessa Trump, who has been undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The family has discussed the challenges of Vanessa’s health journey in past interviews and social media posts.
