Lionel Richie, 77, has been discharged from the hospital three days after checking himself in following an on-stage incident during a concert in St. Louis, Missouri. His representatives confirmed he is back home and doing well.
The 77-year-old singer was hospitalized on Saturday after appearing to struggle during his final performance of the night at The Muny in Forest Park. Video from the concert shows Richie seated on a piano bench while singing his hit song All Night Long, with stagehands adjusting the bench’s position. He appeared to be out of breath at times, and his vocals intermittently dropped amid thick backing vocals.
Richie was admitted for cardiac-related evaluation and remained in the intensive care unit until his release on Wednesday, according to sources cited by People. His hospitalization follows a previous on-stage incident in June, when he experienced dizziness during a concert in Minnesota with Earth, Wind & Fire. That incident led to the postponement of two tour dates, though he resumed performing on June 30.
A spokesperson for Richie did not respond to requests for comment. The singer is scheduled to perform in Las Vegas in October and November for his King of Hearts residency at the Wynn. His tour with Earth, Wind & Fire had resumed after the June incident, with no further reported interruptions.
