Elon Musk’s America PAC disclosed $800,000 in independent expenditures for the 2026 midterm elections in a filing released late Wednesday, marking the first wave of spending from the super PAC this cycle. The funds were allocated across key Senate and House races, with the largest allocations directed toward competitive contests in Texas, Maine, and Ohio.
The spending includes $247,595 in Texas, where Republicans are defending the Senate seat held by Attorney General Ken Paxton against Democrat James Talarico. Additional major allocations were made in Maine ($170,224.29) and Ohio ($105,675), among other states. The PAC also targeted eight House races, including districts in Wisconsin, New York, Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
All disclosed spending was categorized for print advertisements, according to the filing. America PAC has also spent over $207,000 on digital ads in Texas, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Maine, per advertisement tracking data.
Speaker Mike Johnson, who met with Musk during a campaign swing in Texas last week, confirmed the meeting but declined to discuss whether the spending was a topic of conversation. “He’s made public a lot of what he’s doing,” Johnson said. “I’m going to talk about our conversation on that point, but we’re gonna win the midterms.”
The super PAC’s spending comes as President Donald Trump announced plans to campaign in 35 races ahead of the November elections. Trump emphasized the importance of these contests in determining whether Republicans retain control of Congress. “It’s all about 35 races,” Trump said. “I’m going to go to every one of those 35 places and we’re going to see if we can get everyone elected.”
The Cook Political Report currently rates six Senate races as Toss Ups: Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Ohio, and Texas. Five of these seats are held by Republicans, while Michigan is an open Democratic-held seat. The report also moved the Iowa and Texas Senate races from Lean Republican to Toss Up, citing increasingly competitive polling.
America PAC’s spending aligns with Musk’s reported commitment to allocate over $100 million to support Republican candidates in the midterms, following his $290 million in donations to Trump and GOP committees during the 2024 cycle. The PAC is overseen by Chris Young, a GOP operative and former employee of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.
A spokesperson for America PAC declined to comment on the spending or broader strategy.
