A previously unannounced documentary featuring disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes premiered Sunday night at the Telluride Film Festival, offering an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at her final weeks before entering federal prison.
The film, titled ‘You Can See Everything’, was directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim and produced by A24. The documentary captures Holmes, her partner Billy Evans, and their two children interacting with Fielder in a San Diego rental home during the 34 days preceding her 2023 prison sentence. Additional footage includes re-created scenes of Fielder’s conversations with Holmes in prison, portrayed by an actress whose identity remains undisclosed.
Security measures were unusually strict for the festival screening. Attendees were required to lock their phones in pouches before entering the theater, and security personnel equipped with night-vision goggles monitored the audience for unauthorized devices. Festival director Julie Huntsinger emphasized secrecy, stating, “What happens in Telluride stays in Telluride.”
The documentary’s trailer features a direct exchange between Fielder and Holmes, in which she asserts, “I don’t have anything to deceive you on. Of course I’m not deceiving you. … Why would I deceive you? There’s no reason for me to do that.” Fielder, known for his deadpan comedic style in projects like The Rehearsal and Nathan for You, is shown pressing Holmes on the authenticity of her statements.
Fielder described the experience as unsettling during a post-screening Q&A. “I’m struggling to this day to understand exactly what I experienced,” he said. “I don’t know why they want me there. I’m a weird guy. I don’t get it. That messed with my head.” The film’s origins trace back to 2023, when Oppenheim, a friend of Fielder’s, facilitated a meeting between the filmmakers and Holmes and Evans after they approached A24 about documenting their story.
The documentary is scheduled for a theatrical release in October 2026 and marks another high-profile portrayal of Holmes, who has been the subject of prior unauthorized media, including documentaries and the Hulu series The Dropout, starring Amanda Seyfried. The film’s title, You Can See Everything, reflects its premise of unfiltered access to Holmes’ life in the final days before her imprisonment.
