A 55-year-old Frito-Lay employee was fatally shot by a stray bullet while conducting inventory at a Sam’s Club warehouse in Nashville early Sunday, authorities confirmed.
Police say the gunfire may have originated from a nearby bar dispute, with investigators focusing on a confrontation that occurred at Lavou Lounge before shots were fired. The victim, Paris Carlock, was struck in the head while working in the chip aisle of the store on Antioch Pike around 4 a.m. ET, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD).
First responders located Carlock in the parking lot and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The MNPD Homicide Unit has opened an investigation, and authorities are appealing for public assistance in identifying the shooter or vehicles involved.

PepsiCo, which owns Frito-Lay, issued a statement expressing deep sadness over Carlock’s death and offering condolences to his family. “Our sincere condolences are with their family members and loved ones,” the company said. “We have been working closely with law enforcement and local officials regarding the matter.”
A spokesperson for Sam’s Club also conveyed heartbreak over the incident, stating, “We are heartbroken by this incident, and our thoughts are with those impacted. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement as they investigate.”
Police investigation details
According to police accounts reported by local affiliate WKRN, the shooting stemmed from an argument that began inside Lavou Lounge. Security personnel removed the individuals involved, but the dispute continued outside. Shots were reportedly fired as vehicles were driving away from the bar, and the bullet traveled through a metal side wall of the Sam’s Club before striking Carlock.
