A Tracy High School football coach was arrested Friday after students discovered a cellphone secretly recording them in a campus locker room, the Tracy Police Department confirmed Saturday.
Police identified the suspect as Jeffrey Pribble, 48, a varsity football head coach and physical education teacher at the school. The incident occurred Thursday when a student and classmates found the phone recording inside the locker room. The students stopped the recording, deleted the video, and turned the device over to a teacher, according to officials.
By Thursday evening, a concerned parent contacted Tracy police, prompting school resource officers and detectives to launch an investigation. Officers determined the phone belonged to Pribble and arrested him the following day.
The Tracy Unified School District placed Pribble on administrative leave pending the outcome of criminal and district investigations. Principal Jon Waggle acknowledged the arrest in an email to parents but did not specify the allegations, stating the district was cooperating fully with law enforcement.
Pribble has served as the school’s football coach for five years and has 22 years of experience as an educator in the district, according to his Facebook page. The case remains under active investigation, and no additional details about the recordings or charges have been released by police.
The school has not disclosed how many students were recorded or the nature of the footage. Authorities have not commented on whether the recordings were shared or distributed beyond the device itself.
