In a joint statement to People magazine on Tuesday, the couple revealed they had been separated for some time, describing the decision as the right move for their family unit. Seyfried and Sadoski stated: “We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We’ve got each other forever — and it’s GOOD.”
The announcement follows months of public appearances where the pair appeared together, including a January 9 event at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, where Sadoski accompanied Seyfried at a party celebrating her Golden Globe nomination for The Testament of Ann Lee. The couple, who share two children—a daughter, Nina (age 9), and a son, Thomas (age 5)—have not disclosed the exact duration of their separation.
Seyfried shared a reflective quote on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, attributing it to poet Bianca Sparacino. The prose emphasized themes of resilience, forgiveness, and living fully, with Seyfried adding her own commentary: “Yes yes yes.” She also posted a separate quote stating, “There’s really not a difficult thing unless you decide it’s a difficult thing. Otherwise, it’s just the next thing you’re figuring out.”
The pair first met in 2015 while starring together in the off-Broadway play The Way We Get By, a two-person production exploring love and lust. Sadoski, who called Seyfried his “perfect scene partner” at the time, later described the experience as one of the luckiest in his career. They reunited later that year to play love interests in the film The Last Word.
Since their marriage in March 2017, Seyfried and Sadoski have maintained a public presence as a couple, though their recent activities have included individual appearances.
