Children's YouTube educator Ms. Rachel—real name Rachel Griffin Accurso—has reiterated her support for Palestinian children in Gaza, stating that backlash over her social media posts has not deterred her advocacy.
In an interview with Rolling Stone published on Tuesday, Accurso addressed the criticism she received for her comments on the Israel-Hamas war, which she described as the most aggressive she has faced. She acknowledged initial surprise at the response but emphasized that her stance remains unchanged.
"I thought everyone hated me at one point," Accurso said. "I remember calling friends and family members, Jewish and not Jewish, and just being like, 'Why do people hate that I don't want kids to be killed and starved?'"
Accurso, known for her educational content for children, has increasingly used her platform to advocate for progressive causes, including LGBTQ+ rights and immigration reform. However, her public statements on Gaza have drawn the most significant pushback, prompting her to directly address the criticism.
Defending her position

"‘You're gonna lose this partnership. You're gonna lose views.’ That doesn't faze me because the kids gave me the platform," she said. "I'm going to stand with them no matter what."
She also criticized celebrities and politicians for what she described as insufficient public statements on the conflict, suggesting a racial double standard in how children's suffering is addressed.
"They probably would say something if these kids were White and from a different place," Accurso wrote on Instagram. "Please stop being racist and risk something."
