The first full trailer for Nathan Fielder’s documentary You Can See Everything, featuring Elizabeth Holmes, has been released ahead of its theatrical debut on October 16.
The documentary follows Fielder as he moves in with Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans, 34 days before she reported to federal prison in May 2023 to begin serving an 11-year sentence for fraud. The trailer, released by A24, captures Fielder’s direct questioning of Holmes about her role in the collapse of Theranos, the blood-testing startup she founded.
In the trailer, Fielder asks Holmes, “You really feel you did nothing wrong?” Holmes responds, “I did not.” When pressed on how she ended up convicted, she states, “I wish I knew. I don’t know. I don’t feel like I understand that.” The documentary is described as an intimate, genre-bending exploration of Holmes’ perspective in the final weeks before her incarceration.
The film premiered to positive reception at the Telluride Film Festival in early September, with some critics speculating it could generate Oscar buzz for Best Picture. The trailer’s release follows a viral teaser that drew significant attention earlier in the month.
Holmes was found guilty in 2022 on four counts of fraud and conspiracy related to Theranos’ false claims about its blood-testing technology. She has maintained her innocence despite the conviction and subsequent sentencing. Her prison sentence was later shortened by roughly two years, though the documentary was filmed prior to that reduction.
The documentary’s title, You Can See Everything, reflects its premise of unfiltered access to Holmes’ life during this period. Fielder, known for his cringe-comedy work in Nathan for You and The Rehearsal, makes his feature directorial debut with the project.
