The New York Giants have released veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. after three games of the 2025 season, according to reports from NFL insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport.
The team confirmed the move amid roster adjustments, including the need to activate punt returner Braxton Berrios from the practice squad. Beckham, who signed with the Giants in June, did not record a catch in his lone target during the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. His return to New York concluded without a reception after three games.
The Giants, currently 2-1 following a Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans, face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4. The team also sustained a significant loss when starting quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury in the Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, likely ending his season. The Giants subsequently acquired quarterback J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a fifth-round 2027 draft pick.
Beckham’s first stint with the Giants (2014-2018) included four 1,000-yard receiving seasons and three Pro Bowl selections. He later played for the Cleveland Browns (2019-2021), Los Angeles Rams (2021), Baltimore Ravens (2022), and Miami Dolphins (2023-2024) before returning to New York this offseason.
