A 27-year-old Pennsylvania woman has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after authorities say she stabbed her husband and 3-year-old son to death inside a Great Wolf Lodge hotel room in the Poconos. Authorities responded to the resort in Scotrun on October 12 following a 911 call from the woman, who reported suicidal intent and later stated her family members were already dead, according to a criminal complaint.
Charges and immediate response
Metallica Rose Harrison, of Towanda, was taken into custody and faces two counts of criminal homicide, according to Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso. Harrison was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital’s Monroe Campus in Stroudsburg for treatment of injuries, including cuts to her wrist and neck, after police found her husband, Charles Harrison, and their son deceased in the room.
Police arrived at room 2030 at the Great Wolf Lodge around 3:13 p.m. on October 12, responding to a call from Harrison, who reported being "too weak to stab my neck" and requested police assistance. During the call, she stated she had knives but they were "not working," and that she needed "help dying." When asked if she was alone, Harrison replied, "My husband and son are already gone in the bed," and later added, "They're already gone, I'm sorry," according to the complaint. She did not request help for them at any point during the call.
Details of the incident
Inside the room, officers found Charles Harrison with multiple stab wounds to his chest. The couple’s son, identified in the complaint by his initials, appeared to have a single stab wound to his chest. Harrison told responding officers she "wanted to be with her husband and son," according to the affidavit. The complaint also notes that during the ambulance ride, Harrison allegedly said she took medication to thin her blood and expressed frustration that the blood was clotting when it "wasn’t supposed to."
Background and family context
Harrison is described as a mother of a toddler and married to Charles Harrison. The couple had been staying at the Great Wolf Lodge, a family resort featuring an indoor water park. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the incident. The complaint includes a statement Harrison allegedly made during the ambulance ride, in which she referenced her lifelong vision of having a "happy family."
Harrison remains in custody pending further legal proceedings. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details about the couple’s relationship or any prior incidents.
