The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 35-21 on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium, marking their first win since Week 5. The victory improved the Rams’ record to 3-4 while extending the Raiders’ losing streak to three games.
Matthew Stafford became the Rams’ all-time leader in touchdown passes during the game, surpassing the franchise mark he set in his sixth season with the team. Stafford finished with three touchdown passes in the first half alone, including a franchise-record-setting throw. The Rams’ offense, led by Stafford, Puka Nacua, and a balanced rushing attack featuring Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, combined for 35 points against a Raiders defense allowing the second-most points in the NFL.
The Rams’ defense contributed with key stops, including a goal-line stand in the third quarter to prevent a Raiders comeback. Williams and Corum each scored rushing touchdowns, though Williams lost a fumble and two of Corum’s scores were nullified by penalties. The Raiders, who entered the game with a 3-4 record, struggled to generate consistent offense, managing just 21 points despite facing an injury-depleted Rams defense.
Stafford’s historic performance came in his 12th NFL season, during which he became the first quarterback in league history to lead two different franchises in career touchdown passes. Through six games, he has thrown for 1,794 yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions, maintaining high-level play at age 38. The Rams, who opened the season as Super Bowl favorites, have now won two of their last three games after a slow start.
Los Angeles will next face the winless Los Angeles Chargers before traveling to Washington and Arizona for road games. A bye week follows the Arizona game. The Rams’ defense, which had allowed the most points in the NFL through Week 6, showed signs of improvement with three takeaways, including two interceptions of Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew.
The victory marked a turning point for a Rams team that had lost consecutive games to the Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals. Offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur emphasized the team’s need for consistency moving forward. "We’ve got to clean up the turnovers and penalties," LaFleur said. "But today, we showed we can put up points when it matters."
